This weekend I harvested from my garden! I harvested quite a bit of swiss chard, and 2 varieties of lettuce! And they were delicious! Here are some photographs of my harvest. I first cut of swiss chard, ruby red lettuce and tasty leaf variety lettuce on Saturday because it was supposed to get hot here and I would rather enjoy the lettuce than watch it wilt and go to bolt in the garden. I have enjoyed salad with lettuce from my garden since Saturday! Lettuce really tastes different when you have grown and tended to it in your own garden.

Here are my very first radishes! I grew them from seeds and they are already ready to eat. I put them in the ground about 1 month ago. It was exciting and amazing to watch them grow bigger each day! Of course, the hard part is because they are a root vegetable and grow under ground, you have to trust that you are giving the plant what it needs to grow into a delicious radish because you can't watch the actual vegetable grow, only the leaves. I cannot wait to dig into these and have some in my salad tomorrow.
I think growing fruits and veggies in my own garden has been a large reason to change my eating habits and eat a lot healthier and alot more raw veggies. Because I have grown it myself, it just tastes better, and I feel like I have an obligation to myself and all the hard work in my garden to enjoy and eat fresh veggies all the time. Currently, much of my garden is still growing and is only just starting to blossom with flowers, but I can't wait until a month from now, when I have tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and string beans coming out of my ears! Happy Monday all! :)
