RIP: pop-pop- 6/6/09
Hey all, hope you all are enjoying your weekends! My birthday yesterday was ...okay. My grandfather wound up passing away during early evening, so the whole family went into funeral mode immediately. I can't say that i'm not bitter a little, because I am to an extent. June 6 will always be the day my grandfather died to my uncle and aunt(they celebrate..or mourn,really, their mothers death still, which happened 18 years ago), so I know that my birthday won't ever be the same, but i'll stop being selfish. The arrangements are set for this week sometime, i think wednesday and thursday...my mom and i have a ton of cooking to do before family gets here on wednesday, so i'm gonna be a pretty busy girl the next week or so. Hope you all are doing great!

i'm soo sorry!! well i hate to say happy birthday since it obviously wasn't a good day for you, but i hope u make it through the sad time. and even though they may be sad about their dad's death, it's probably a little less likely to taint your birthday since it sounds like your grandma died when she was quite younger and may have been harder for them to take.
I'm so sorry for your loss, and that it had to happen at such a time. I can completely understand why you feel the way you do, and you shouldn't feel selfish for it. It isn't fair that it had to be on your birthday, and unfortunately life isn't very fair.
The one way you can look at it is this: Your grandfather wouldn't want your birthday to have been ruined, nor would he want you to mourn on it every year. The best way to honor his love for you is to be happy each year, celebrate with voracity, and stop to think of him for a moment with fondness...
So sorry to hear about your grandpa!
